Bell Cornwall Associates - Our Top Temp of the Month |
| The Top Temp of the month was awarded to Dawn Loftus. She is an excellent example of temporary staff as she has consistently delivered and exceeded the clients expectations.
The tradition of Guy Fawkes-related bonfires actually began the very same year as the failed coup. The planned Plot had been foiled in the night between the 4th and 5th of November 1605. Already on the 5th, agitated Londoners who knew little more than that their King had been saved, happily lit bonfires in thanksgiving. As years progressed, however, this ritual has become more elaborate as today we celebrate this night with many wonderful firework displays. Even for the period which was notoriously unstable, the Gunpowder Plot has struck a very deep chord for the people of England. In fact, did you know that even today, the reigning monarch only enters the Parliament once a year, on what is called "the State Opening of Parliament". Prior to the Opening, and according to custom, the Yeomen of the Guard search the cellars of the Palace of Westminster. Nowadays, the Queen and Parliament still observe this tradition. For all of you that were not aware of this custom will have found this very interesting to know. |

| Bell Cornwall Associates & Charities |
As mentioned in the previous eNewsletter, all the team here at Bell Cornwall Associates: Charlotte Bell, Jeremy Cornwall, Louise Kendall, Natasha Addison, Poonam Sharma and some of their family (Laura Cornwall, Aarti Kaushal & Phil Plater) completed a 5km Charity Run for Brain Tumour UK. This was held at the Cannon Hill Park in Edgbaston on Sunday 13th September 2009. They raised £800 for the Charity altogether which was a fantastic total and compensated for the rather painful aching legs (for some) on the Monday morning! |
